DeMarcus Cousins believes LeBron James joining the Minnesota Timberwolves would create one of the NBA’s most intriguing teams, pairing the veteran superstar with Anthony Edwards and newly acquired LaMelo Ball.
Speaking about James’ next destination, Cousins said: “I think Bron in Minnesota with Ant Man would be must watch TV. They added LaMelo Ball who’s also another exciting player. You put those three characters together I think we in for some good ball and possibly a championship run.”
Minnesota already enters the offseason as one of the Western Conference’s top contenders after finishing the 2025-26 regular season with a 49-33 record, earning the No. 6 seed in the conference. The Timberwolves advanced past the Denver Nuggets in the first round before falling to the San Antonio Spurs in six games in the Western Conference semifinals.
The foundation Cousins highlighted starts with Edwards, who averaged 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 61 games during the 2025-26 season. The 24-year-old guard shot 48.9% from the field and 39.9% from three-point range while earning All-Star recognition.
Jaden McDaniels added 14.8 points per game while shooting 51.5% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range, giving the Timberwolves another two-way wing option.
The team’s defensive identity remained anchored by Rudy Gobert, who averaged 11.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while finishing fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
James would add another elite playmaker to a roster already built around multiple creators. The 41-year-old averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds in 60 games during the 2025-26 season, helping the Los Angeles Lakers finish 53-29 and win the Pacific Division.
Multiple teams, including the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and Timberwolves, have been linked to James in free agency.
For Minnesota, adding James would represent an aggressive move toward contention while pairing the league’s oldest active superstar with one of its fastest-rising young stars.
