Former Kansas basketball player Lagerald Vick has been charged with attempted first-degree murder following an alleged shooting earlier this month.
According to reports, Vick is also facing a charge of employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
He was arrested by Memphis police on Saturday, booked into Shelby County Jail, and had his bond set at $1.5 million.
The charges stem from a July 5 shooting. Police say the victim got into a verbal confrontation with a man at a party on the night of July 4 before being shot in the back while trying to flee.
The victim later identified Vick as the alleged shooter in a photo lineup.
Vick is scheduled to appear in court Monday for his arraignment and Tuesday for a bail review hearing.
The former Jayhawks guard has also faced other legal trouble this year, including felony charges of aggravated burglary and theft, along with a misdemeanor vandalism charge stemming from an alleged break-in at his ex-girlfriend’s home.
Vick played at Kansas from 2015 to 2019, appearing in 94 games and averaging a career-high 14.1 points per game during his senior season.
