Daniil Medvedev and Arthur Fils are back in familiar territory, while Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Arthur Gea are celebrating new career-high rankings in the wake of the Shanghai Masters.
Monday’s ATP rankings brought significant movement throughout the Top 50, with the final weeks of the season promising more changes as the battle for places at the ATP Finals in Turin intensifies.
Medvedev Returns to Top 5
Former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev climbed one spot to No. 5 in Monday’s ATP rankings, returning to the elite group after reaching the semifinals in Shanghai.
The 30-year-old Russian, who owns 3,660 ranking points, continues to build momentum as the season draws to a close. He’s back inside the Top 5 for the first time since the 2025 Australian Open. The former World No.1 also strengthened his position in the Race to Turin, where he currently sits fifth if we allow for the fact that Jannik Sinner will not be playing in Turin.
Fils Back in Top 10
Arthur Fils is back among the world’s Top 10, rising one spot to No. 10 with 3,325 points.
The 22-year-old Frenchman returns to the prestigious group after briefly slipping outside it earlier this month. With the ATP Finals approaching, Fils will look to consolidate his position during the European indoor swing. Fils is seventh in the Race to Turin and playing this week in Brussels.
Davidovich Fokina Hits Career-High No. 13
Foki caught fire in Shanghai, and the Spaniard is now sitting just three spots from the Top 10. Davidovich Fokina was one of the week’s biggest movers, soaring 13 places from No. 26 to a career-high No. 13 after capturing his maiden Masters 1000 title in Shanghai, which was his third title of 2026.
The 27-year-old Spaniard defeated compatriot Rafael Jodar 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 in Sunday’s final, completing a remarkable resurgence following a two-month injury layoff.
Gea Cracks Top 50 at Career-High No. 44
France’s Arthur Gea continued his impressive rise, jumping 12 places to a career-high No. 44 after reaching his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal in Shanghai.
The 21-year-old, who reached the US Open quarterfinals from qualifying, scored notable victories over Ben Shelton and Jakub Mensik before his campaign ended with a retirement against eventual champion Davidovich Fokina. The breakthrough takes Gea into the Top 50 for the first time.
Race to Turin: Cobolli, Medvedev and Fils Look to Strengthen Their Positions
With the ATP Finals drawing closer, three contenders have an opportunity to bolster their qualification hopes this week.
Flavio Cobolli, currently fifth in the Race with 3,540 points, will compete in Lyon, while sixth-placed Daniil Medvedev (3,420) is in the field at Almaty. Arthur Fils, eighth with 3,325 points, will seek to strengthen his position in Brussels.

With Jannik Sinner not participating in Turin, the door is open for an additional contender to qualify. Rafael Jodar, Alex de Minaur and Novak Djokovic are among those still hoping to secure their places in the eight-man field.
The final Masters 1000 tournament of the season in Paris, beginning November 2, will provide another opportunity for players to make their move.
