Crvena Zvezda is reportedly set to turn to one of Europe’s most successful coaches in an effort to begin a new chapter after falling short of expectations this season.
According to Meridian Sport, the Serbian powerhouse has chosen Ibon Navarro to lead the team moving forward.
The Spanish coach is coming off a remarkable run with Unicaja Malaga, where he established the club as one of the most consistent winners outside the EuroLeague.
Over the past four seasons, Navarro helped transform Unicaja into a trophy-winning side, collecting seven titles across domestic and international competitions, including multiple Basketball Champions League and FIBA Intercontinental Cup crowns.
The move would mark a significant change for Zvezda, which recently ended its partnership with Sasa Obradovic after an early playoff exit in the ABA League.
Should the agreement be completed, Navarro will arrive in Belgrade with the task of restoring the club’s competitiveness at both the regional and European levels.
