Youth remains Magic’s priority

Despite increasing expectations following the acquisition of Desmond Bane, the Orlando Magic remain committed to a long-term approach centered around one of the NBA’s youngest cores.

Magic president Jeff Weltman emphasized that, although the team’s ambitions have grown, Orlando is still built around a young group led by Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and Bane, who at 27 is the oldest member of the core.

The roster also includes Tristan Da Silva, Anthony Black, Noah Penda, Jase Richardson and Jett Howard, all of whom are 24 or younger.

Because of that, the organization continues to prioritize development as it works toward becoming a contender, with new head coach Sean Sweeney expected to play a major role in helping the franchise’s young talent reach its potential.
