New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson has made it clear that he’s entering the 2024-25 season with a personal mission.

In an interview with William Guillory of The Athletic, Williamson stated that he’s “out for straight vengeance.”

He clarified that his desire for vengeance isn’t directed at any individual but is about pushing himself to new heights.

Williamson has faced significant adversity in his young career due to injuries, but he is determined to make a strong comeback.

He participated in the Pelicans’ voluntary offseason workouts for the first time this year.

Williamson emphasized the importance of learning from teammates like Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum.

He expressed a desire to grow not only as a player but as a leader and a “good brother” on the team.

Williamson’s commitment to the team was evident when he attended the California workouts, despite having to leave early for a Jordan Brand event in China.

During the 2023-24 season, Williamson played 70 games, the most in his NBA career so far. He averaged 22.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5 assists in 31.5 minutes per game. This marked a significant step forward in Williamson’s development as an NBA player.

He delivered some standout performances last season, including a 33-point game against the Philadelphia 76ers on November 29, 2023.

Williamson also had a 33-point outing against the San Antonio Spurs on February 2, 2024, capped by a game-winning layup.

His first postseason appearance came during the 2024 NBA play-in tournament. Despite scoring 40 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists, the Pelicans lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Williamson’s playoff debut was cut short by an injury, but he’s determined to bounce back stronger. The Pelicans reached the playoffs last season after defeating the Sacramento Kings in the second play-in game. However, they were swept in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

For Williamson, the upcoming season represents a chance to build on the progress he made last year.
