Paula Badosa said it best on Twitter after winning her first title since 2022 in DC on Sunday: “Paula Backdosa”.

No it’s not a reference to her recent injury past, but rather a testament to her perseverance.

Citi Open champion Badosa jumps 22 spots from No.62 to No.40 in Monday rankings, marking a rapid rise from 140 in May. Injuries have sabotaged Badosa for two seasons but she is apparently ready to show the form that took her to No.2 in the world in April of 2022.

Badosa is back in the Top-40 for the first time since July of 2023.

The 26-year-old defeated Marie Bouzkova in Sunday’s final, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, to claim her fourth title overall.

Bouzkova, a former World No.24, is also back in the Top-40 again – she rises from No.43 to No.36.

Emma Raducanu, who reached her third quarterfinal of 2024 in DC (loss to Badosa) rises 20 spots to No.69.
