Ange Postecoglou finally has some options to select from when it comes to his Tottenham starting XI to face Liverpool at Anfield in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday.
Spurs added to their squad in the final days of the winter transfer window with 26-year-old centre-back Kevin Danso coming in from Lens on loan with an obligation to buy him for £20.9million and then 19-year-old attacker Mathys Tel followed him from Bayern Munich on deadline day on another loan with a £45.8million option to make his move permanent.
The Tottenham head coach will have to decide whether both players, neither of which have played a lot of football in the past couple of weeks since the winter break in France and Germany, will start the game at Anfield or come off the bench at some point as both have received their work permits and are available. There is also another big cup tie three days later with the FA Cup fourth round tie at Aston Villa on Sunday.
Postecoglou continues to be without Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero and said that none of the other injured players are in contention, but it might be worth keeping an eye if any of them travel with to Liverpool on Wednesday evening in case any of them make a late run to the bench.
Here’s the Tottenham team we reckon Postecoglou will select to face Liverpool on Thursday evening.
