The Rockets ended the 2023/24 season with a respectable 41-41 record, but in a fiercely competitive Western Conference, it wasn’t sufficient to secure even a play-in tournament spot. Houston ultimately settled for the West’s No. 11 seed.
In an article by Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle, team owner Tilman Fertitta discussed the upcoming season, expressing “high expectations” for the Rockets, but notably stopping short of demanding a playoff appearance as the benchmark for success in 2024/25.
Fertitta’s statement leaves room for interpretation, suggesting that while improvement is anticipated, the team’s performance may be judged on factors beyond simply making the postseason.
With a new coaching staff under Ime Udoka and a young, evolving roster, the organization seems focused on building long-term success, even as expectations rise in the short term.
