Peyton Stearns has been struggling with a stomach issue for several weeks. Remarkably she managed wins over Dayana Yastremska, Ons Jabeur and Zheng Qinwen during her trip to Doha and Dubai.
Now the 43rd-ranked American knows the reasons for her struggles: E. Coli.
“These past three weeks have been a rough ride….constant stomach pain, exhaustion, trips to the bathroom and not knowing what’s going on,” 23-year-old Stearns wrote on social media. “After multiple tests, I finally found out E. coli was the culprit. It’s been frustrating not knowing what was wrong, but now that I do, I can focus on getting better.

Stearns, who has already played 14 matches on the season (7-7) says she hopes to back at full strength at Indian Wells.
