The San Antonio Spurs have signed Nathan Mensah, adding depth to their roster ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.
The deal is most likely a training camp contract, filling the Spurs’ roster with 21 players, as reported by Paul Garcia.
Mensah, a 6-foot-10 center, played college basketball at San Diego State, where he made a name for himself as a defensive standout.
During his college career, he averaged 8.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.
Mensah was crucial in helping the Aztecs reach their first-ever Final Four and national championship game.
Despite going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, Mensah showcased his skills during the NBA Summer League with the Charlotte Hornets.
He signed a contract with the Hornets on September 5, 2023, but was waived before the start of the season.
Mensah then joined the Greensboro Swarm in the NBA G League, where he continued to refine his game.
In December 2023, Mensah signed a two-way contract with the Hornets, making his NBA debut shortly after.
He appeared in 25 games for Charlotte, averaging 1.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game.
Mensah also contributed to the Greensboro Swarm, where he averaged 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in nearly 18 minutes per game.
