But her mom is already getting anxious for her daughter to win another Slam.

When asked about where she keeps her two Australian Open trophies during BNP Paribas Open media day on Wednesday, Sabalenka shared a hilarious anecdote about them.

“My mom has them, and they are side by side,” she told a reporter. “She calls them twins and she says, ‘We need to have a different one – it looks boring when you have two of the same ones, can you work on the other Slams?’

“I’m like mom, what an easy request, thanks for that – you could have just appreciated these two, they weren’t easy to get.”

Second Slam Was Different

Sabalenka’s mom will be happy to hear that her daughter is already starting to focus on her next goals. How long did it take her to process her second major title?

“Probably a week,” she said. “I don’t like to focus on goals I was able to achieve. I like to move on and start getting ready for the next ones.”

Sabalenka explained that the emotions that came with winning her second major were a little more muted.

“It was definitely different emotions,” she said. “Last year everything was new for me, and this year I was defending champion, and I kind of knew what to expect, in the last stages of the tournament for example – I would say that I was more ready and it wasn’t that emotional. I was just super happy to defend my title, but still it was an amazing moment.”
