Former Top 40 singles player Ryan Harrison announced his retirement from tennis on social media.
The 31-year-old Harrison, who has been dealing with injuries and health issues, made the announcement on Tuesday. Harrison underwent surgery at the end of 2019 to heal a torn right extensor tendon but has not recovered since then.
“With the New Year kicking off it starts a new chapter in my life,” Harrison said. “After a long battle with health issues over the last few years, the time has come for me to put an end to my playing career.”
