BUZZARDS BAY, Mass — Last week longtime Buccaneers men’s soccer head coach Greg Perry was honored by the Eastern Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Association as the 2022 College Coach of the Year. Perry, who has been the Bucs head coach for 30 years, was honored in a ceremony at the 2022 EMSCA All-Star Game the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Coach Perry, a graduate of Westfield State University was named the head coach of the men’s soccer program at the Academy in March of 1993 by then Director of Athletics Bob Corradi. In his 30 years on Taylor’s Point Greg has mentored thousands of Buccaneers men’s soccer players and has created one of the largest and strongest alumni bases in the Department of Athletics. He has had countless players named to All-Conference teams, most recently Ben Paine and Adam Crawford who were three and four-time MASCAC All-Conference Selection, conference All-Academic teams and NEISL All-Star games, most recently Liam McDonough and Jake McInerney.
In his 30 years with the Buccaneers he has recorded 172 wins and 36 draws and is the winningest head coach in program history. In conference, he has totaled 50 wins and 14 draws and has been to the conference playoffs a handful of times with the most recent playoff appearance coming in 2021.
At the Academy off the soccer field, Perry has held positions all over campus including in the Camps and Conferences Office as the Athletics liaison and spent a number of years as an assistant baseball coach for Bob Corradi and Mike Kelley. Currently he is the Head of Grounds keeping our campus looking pristine.
