Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro lead American aims at this month’s San Diego Open.
The Cymbiotika San Diego Open WTA 500 event will be played Saturday, February 24 through Sunday, March 3 at Barnes Tennis Center, 4490 W. Point Loma Blvd, San Diego, CA 92107.
The 29-year-old Pegula, who recently announced her split from coach David Witt, is ranked No. 4. She has won four career WTA singles titles and reached the singles quarterfinals at Grand Slam tournaments on six occasions since making her Grand Slam debut at the US Open in 2015.
A versatile all-court player, Pegula has also captured seven career WTA doubles titles, including the inaugural Cymbiotika San Diego Open in 2022 when she teamed with fellow American Coco Gauff to defeat Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Giuliana Olmos of Mexico 1-6, 7-5, 10-4 to win the doubles championship at Barnes Tennis Center.
Pegula achieved the No. 1 doubles ranking in the world on September 11, 2023.

Among the Main Draw entrants are 2023 French Open singles finalist Karolina Muchova of Czech Republic and rising young American Emma Navarro.
The 22-year-old Navarro, a native of Charleston, S.C., is no stranger to San Diego. In 2019, she reached the singles final of the USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 18s National Championships which are contested in August at Barnes Tennis Center.
In 2021, Navarro won the NCAA singles title as a freshman at the University of Virginia. She also won her first career WTA singles title earlier this year in Hobart, Australia. For additional information on Navarro, click here.
The WTA 500 tournament, featuring the top women tennis professionals in the world, offers $922,573 in prize money and will have a 28-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw.
Qualifying rounds are scheduled for Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25 with Main Draw matches starting Monday, February 26 and concluding with the singles and doubles finals on Sunday, March 3.
The starting times for each day of the 2024 Cymbiotika San Diego Open will be as follows:

Former French Open champion and current world No. 10 Barbora Krejcikova of Czech Republic swept the singles and doubles titles at the 2023 Cymbiotika San Diego Open.
The 28-year-old Krejcikova overcame American Sofia Kenin 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the singles final and then teamed with compatriot Katerina Siniakova for a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Americans Danielle Collins and Coco Vandeweghe in the doubles championship.
