Karolina Muchova emerged as one of the biggest stories of the 2023 tennis season when she reached the Roland-Garros final last spring. The talented Czech had to overcome a litany of injuries to get herself in peak form, and now she’ll have to do it again.
Muchova announced on Monday that she has undergone right wrist surgery and will be out indefinitely.
The 27-year-old World No.10 has been out since last year’s US Open, where she reached the semifinals.
“Following my injury at the US Open and an extensive rehabilitation phase, it turned out that a medical intervention was necessary,” she wrote on X, the website formerly known as Twitter. “So here I am, tired and sad, but I know I’ll be okay now. The surgery was successful and I’m gonna do all I can to see you on the court again soon.”
