NEW LONDON, Conn — The Buccaneers traveled to Mitchell College on Monday for a 1pm kickoff against the Mariner in non-conference play. A quiet first half led to a loud second half for the Mariners as the hosts got the better of Maritime, 5-0.
Ryan Soughou took two shots on target for the guests. CJ Vincent and Liam McDonough each had one shot on net. Goalkeeper Quinn Kelly made six saves and allowed three of the four Mariner goals. Nicos Pattihis came in in relief with just under 20 minutes to play and made three saves while allowing a goal.
Nolan Clack scored a hat trick for the Mariners with goals in the 46th minute, 50th minute, and the 65th minute. His first goal proved to be the game winner. Dylan Lucey scored in the 56th minute and Snadooby Robert scored in the 86th minute. Flavio Alvarado and Jack Varley each had an assist.
The First half saw no scoring and only limited shots with the teams going to the break in a scoreless draw.
In the second half, Mitchell came out and scored immediately. 32 seconds into the half, Clack scored his first. He followed that up with his second four minutes later to make it 2-0. In the 56th minute, on a pass from Alvarado, Lucey scored to make it three. Clack got his hat trick in the 65th minute on another unassisted goal. Robert, from Varley, put the game away with the fifth Mariner goal in the 86th minute.
The Buccaneers will take the field again on Saturday morning at 10am against Framingham State in conference play.
