Daniil Medvedev transformed Dubai changeover into combat zone.

Frustrated by four match points slipping from his grip, Medvedev dropped the second-set tiebreaker against Tallon Griekspoor 7-6(7), then got into it with chair umpire Adel Nour.

Update: Medvedev lost 2-6, 7-6(7), 7-5 to Griekspoor, and didn’t shake hands with Nour after the loss.

The chair umpire hit a venting Medvedev with a code violation prompting the mercurial Medvedev to unload.

“What did I say?” Medvedev said standing up from his seat. “What is this a double standard against Russians?

“A double standard?”

Chair umpire Nour did not yield and Medvedev eventually left the court to cool down with a bathroom break before returning to start the final set of an upset-ridden Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Ater Griekspoor converted his fourth match point in a 2-6, 7-6(7), 7-5 upset, Medvedev declined to specify what his tiff with Nour was about.

The former US Open champion said he was upset by “one call” the chair umpire made and shared they met after the match and settled any dispute.

“We did actually talk after the match,” Medvedev said. “What happens on court—sometimes I go too far—but again I’m not going to discuss too much about it.

“I was unhappy with one of his decisions and it can happen. We talked after the match and we calmed down the situation.

“Even if there was nothing, hot, boiling. I respect him a lot. So I maybe went just a bit too far. I don’t think I said anything too bad. But maybe I just went a bit too far and I got a code and that’s it.”
