The American, who returned from a lengthy injury absence last summer to play ten matches, winning five, apparently injured herself while preparing for the 2024 season.

“I wanted to let everyone know unfortunately during off-season I had another setback and I’ll be having surgery on my knee,” 28-year-old Brady wrote on Instagram. “With this surgery I will be out for quite some time as the recovery and rehab process is extensive.”

Brady announced that she will return to her alma mater UCLA, and take a position as an assistant coach with the women’s tennis team.

“During this process, I’ve decided to enroll back into UCLA for the spring quarter and help the women’s tennis team by being an (under)graduate assistant coach,” she said. “I’m bummed not to be competing during this time, but I am very excited to be a part of the UCLA tennis team again. I’ll be watching and rooting for my friends who are playing on tour. Thanks to everyone who’s supported me on my journey on and off the court. I plan on being back ripping forehands soon.”
