Giannis Antetokounmpo is backing the New York Knicks to finish the job and lift the NBA title this year, even though the team is still waiting to find out who will emerge from the Western Conference.
The Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs remain deadlocked at 3-3 in the West Finals, leaving the Knicks’ championship opponent undecided.
The Bucks superstar shared his thoughts during a Twitch livestream with Marlon, where he explained why he sees New York as the favorite to go all the way.
In his view, the combination of elite form, confidence, and fan support has created the perfect environment for a championship run.
“I believe the Knicks are going to win the championship. Momentum plays a huge role in basketball. They’ve won 11 straight playoff games and the entire city is behind them,” Antetokounmpo said.
The Greek forward emphasized the importance of momentum in postseason basketball, suggesting that New York’s remarkable winning streak has put the team in an ideal position heading into the Finals.
Beyond their performances on the court, he also pointed to the excitement surrounding the organization and the backing of the city as factors that could help drive the Knicks to a title.
Antetokounmpo’s praise comes against the backdrop of ongoing speculation about his own future.
For years, New York has been regularly mentioned in reports discussing possible destinations for the former MVP, while Antetokounmpo has never completely dismissed the possibility of eventually playing in one of the league’s biggest markets.
