FPL managers handed huge double gameweek after Tottenham defeat at Anfield

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) enthusiasts are in for a treat with an unexpected double gameweek.

Tottenham’s poor defeat at Anfield has resulted in the Premier League having to reschedule some games to fit the Carabao Cup final date. With the final slated for March 16th at Wembley, Liverpool’s clash against Aston Villa has been changed.

Originally planned for March 15th, the match has been moved forward nearly a month to February 19th. This shift means that both Villa and Liverpool will play twice in that week, much to the delight of FPL managers.

Liverpool will host Wolverhampton at Anfield on Sunday before travelling to Villa Park on Wednesday. Unai Emery’s squad will have an extra day’s rest as they take on Ipswich at home on Saturday.

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer is a favourite amongst FPL managers. The 22-year-old has the second highest selection rate, only losing the top spot to Mohamed Salah. Palmer also follows Salah in second to the most points scored this season with 173.

The majority of the Spurs squad has a pretty poor pick selection bar Pedro Porro who has been selected by 20% of the player-base. Amongst the next 10 players underneath the Spaniard, seven of them having warning signs for injuries, a true representation of Tottenham’s crisis.

Despite Arsenal being one of the main contenders challenging Liverpool to the Premier League title, their players aren’t the most well represented in FPL.

It speaks volumes that Bukayo Saka, who has been injured since December, is the fourth most picked Gunner and still has the most points amongst the squad.

Chelsea and Tottenham are both in FA Cup action this week. The Blues head to Brighton tonight as Spurs travel to Villa Park tomorrow. Arsenal were knocked out by Manchester United in the third round.
