SUWANEE, GA — Earlier this week, the Division III Commissioners Association (DIIICA), in partnership with Chi Alpha Sigma, a nonprofit organization established to recognize four-year college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition, announced its annual Regional Student-Athletes of the Year. Former Buccaneer football player Jack Mulligan is on the 2024 list as the DIIICA’s Region I Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
In the Spring, Mulligan was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, marking the third Buccaneer male athlete since 2019 to receive the honor with former men’s soccer player Ben Paine, and former football player Kyle Johnston having also been selected.
Jack is the first Buccaneers male student-athlete to earn a spot on the D3CA Regional Student-Athlete of the Year list and has gotten here by receiving four MASCAC All-Academic nods and two All-MASCAC selections as the Buccaneers punter in 2022 and 2023, along with the Male Scholar-Athlete of the year selection.
“Chi Alpha Sigma is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the D3CA Student-Athlete of theYear awards,” said Kellen Wells-Mangold, executive director of the National College AthleteHonor Society. “The mission of Chi Alpha Sigma aligns very well with that of the D3CA, which makes this a natural partnership to celebrate some of the most outstanding student-athletes in college athletics for their excellence in competition, the classroom, and the community.”
Mulligan and the other nine male regional selections now move on to the national ballot for consideration for the 2023-2024 D3CA Men’s Sport Student-Athlete of the Year.
