Arsenal have just a few hours to complete their transfer business before the January window closes.
It’s February 3, and the Gunners have until the 11pm deadline to add any new signings to their squad. A host of players have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, notably the possibility of signing a striker.
Recent days have seen Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel linked with a move to Arsenal. However, football.london understands that the Gunners opted against signing Tel, with the 19-year-old expected to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan.
Another striker linked with a move to Arsenal is Dusan Vlahovic. The Juventus star has been credited as a potential target for the Gunners in recent weeks, although Manchester United have also been linked with the Serbia international.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal will try to sign Vlahovic, with more updates emerging about the striker’s future on deadline day. Here, football.london takes a look at the latest on the Gunners’ apparent interest in signing Vlahovic.
Arsenal make ‘enquiry’ for Vlahovic
It has been reported that Arsenal have shown an interest in signing Vlahovic before the transfer window closes. According to TBR Football, the Gunners have approached Juventus about the possibility of signing the striker before the 11pm deadline.
Arsenal will reportedly face competition from Man United for Vlahovic’s signature in the final hours of the window. The update comes after claims that Juve are apparently willing to sanction Vlahovic’s exit after signing Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
Thiago Motta stance
Last month, Juventus boss Thiago Motta left Vlahovic on the bench for the Serie A clash against leaders Napoli. Kolo Muani started the game and scored on his first appearance since his loan from PSG.
Motta was asked about the decision to leave Vlahovic on the bench, which sparked rumours that a move before the deadline could be on the cards.
“[Dusan] Vlahovic reacted very well, he is a very positive leader in this squad,” Motta told DAZN last month.
“He is coming back from a small injury, he helped the team a great deal and knows he can be a very important choice off the bench to give us different characteristics in the second half to maintain or even raise the level over the 95 minutes.”
Vlahovic contract latest
Vlahovic’s contract has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks. The striker’s current deal at Juventus is set to expire in the summer of 2026, meaning he is close to entering the final 12 months of his contract.
JuveFC recently reported that Vlahovic’s current contract at Juventus sees him earn €12million (£10million) per season, which equals approximately £192,000 per week. The report added that the current situation has led to rumours that Vlahovic could leave Turin before the transfer window closes, unless a contract extension can be agreed.
