Cooley Scores in Bucs Loss to Nor’Easters

BIDDEFORD, ME — Men’s soccer traveled to Maine on Tuesday to take on the University of New England in non-conference play. The Bucs fell behind by a goal in the first half and the Nor’Easters extended that lead by three early in the first half. The Buccaneers rescued a goal but could not come back in the 4-1 loss.

How It Happened

After a quiet first 35 minutes in Biddeford, the Nor’Easters opened the scoring in the 36th minute on a Higgins goal from a Penalty kick. The 1-0 UNE scoreline held until the half.

In the second half, six minutes in, the floodgates opened for the Nor’Easters as they scored three goals in three minutes against the Bucs. The first came in the 51st minute from Karlsson, the second in the 52nd minute from Lundgren, and the third in the 53rd minute from Powell. In the 53th minute, UNE led the Bucs 4-0. Maritime struck back in the 60th minute on Cooley’s first goal of the season from Wren who recorded his first collegiate point with the assist, and the Buccaneers trailed 4-1. The Nor’Easters held on to the three goal lead with Kalrsson’s goal proving to be the game winner.
