Hello and welcome to football.london for live coverage of Chelsea’s Premier League meeting with Southampton this evening.
The Blues have been defeated in each of their last three matches in all competitions with Saturday evening seeing their latest loss at the hands of Aston Villa. The visitors took an early lead at Villa Park but conceded twice in the second-half and now come into tonight’s match in seventh-place.
Crucially, though, Chelsea remain just one point behind fourth-place Manchester City, after Pep Guardiola‘s side were beaten at home to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. City go to Tottenham on Wednesday evening in the Premier League, meaning Chelsea could climb back into the top four with three points against the bottom-of-the-table Saints later today.
However, Chelsea would need results to go their way with Bournemouth in action away at Brighton this evening as well. Aston Villa, who are a point behind Chelsea, also play tonight at Crystal Palace.
