Chelsea ‘close’ to sanctioning another transfer ahead of deadline day

Chelsea are reportedly set to sanction a transfer exit as deadline day fast approaches.

The Blues have until 11pm on Monday to complete their transfer business before the window closes. Chelsea have had a relatively quiet window so far, but there is still plenty of time for that to change before the deadline.

In terms of exits, Cesare Casadei has left Stamford Bridge to complete a permanent move to Torino. Renato Veiga has also left the Blues to move to Italy, where he completed a loan switch to Juventus earlier this week.

Another player who looks increasingly likely to leave Chelsea before the deadline is Deivid Washington. The 19-year-old is yet to feature for Enzo Maresca’s side this season and has made just three appearances for the club since his £17million move from Santos in the summer of 2023.

According to The Mirror, Washington is close to completing a return to Brazil by re-joining Santos in the coming days. It has been claimed the move would be a loan deal, but it is not specified if it would include the option of the transfer being made permanent.

Washington was reportedly close to leaving Chelsea last summer in a move to French outfit Strasbourg, who are owned by BlueCo and who also own the Blues. However, the move was never completed and Washington would go on to remain at Stamford Bridge, but appears close to leaving the club 18 months after his arrival.

Even though the transfer deadline for Premier League clubs is on Monday, that is not the case for Brazil. Santos have until February 28 until the transfer window in Brazil closes, which allows plenty of time to strike a deal to sign Washington on loan from Chelsea.
