Tottenham Hotspur are close to completing their fourth signing of the January transfer window as the deadline fast approaches.

Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel is expected to complete a move to Spurs before the transfer window closes. Tottenham have until 11pm on Monday night to complete their transfer business before the window closes.

Tel is expected to sign for Spurs on loan until the end of the season, although football.london understands that some details of the move still need to be finalised. It remains to be seen if the loan will include an option or obligation to buy at the end of the campaign.

Spurs had agreed a £50million deal with Bayern last week to sign Tel on a permanent deal before the move fell through. Tottenham had continued to monitor’s the striker’s situation at the Bundesliga club, with Manchester United and Arsenal also showing an interest before the deadline.

With Tottenham looking to complete their fourth signing of the window after the arrivals of Kevin Danso, Antonin Kinsky and Yang Min-hyeok, with the latter recently joining Queens Park Rangers on loan. The arrival of Tel would add another forward option to Ange Postecoglou’s squad for domestic and European competitions.

UEFA rules stated that players signed during the January transfer window could not play until the league phase had been completed. Tottenham have now played all eight of their ‘group stage’ matches, securing a fourth-place finish and will now look ahead to the last-16 of the competition.

Now that the league phase of the tournament has been completed, Spurs are now able to use their new signings when they play their last-16 ties in the Europa League. As well as Tel, this will also mean that Danso and Kinsky will also be available to face whichever team Tottenham are drawn against, with the last-16 ties taking place next month.
