Caleb Martin, who left the Miami Heat this offseason, has officially bid farewell to the team and its fans as he prepares to join the Philadelphia 76ers. The 29-year-old forward shared an emotional message on Instagram, expressing his gratitude for the city of Miami and the Heat organization.
“Man…. Sorry for the delay 305. It took me a lil longer to post this cause I wasn’t ready to say goodbye just yet,” Martin wrote in his post. He reflected on his time in Miami, emphasizing how the team and city changed his life, both personally and professionally. “Put me in position to better my life, my family’s life, and my career.”
Martin’s journey with the Heat began when he signed a two-way contract in 2021, fighting to establish himself in the league. Over his three-year stint, he became a key player for Miami, contributing on both ends of the floor. “Felt like I was on a Two-way contract just yesterday tryin to make a name for myself all over again,” he added.
Throughout his time with the Heat, Martin developed strong relationships with his teammates and coaches while earning the respect of Heat fans. “The fans, my teammates, my coaches, and the city embraced me with open arms, and I always tried to return the favor thru leavin it out on the court every night,” Martin said.
In his final season with the Heat, Martin averaged 10 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 27.4 minutes per game. His solid performances played a key role in Miami’s success during the regular season and playoffs, helping the team remain competitive in a tough Eastern Conference.
Martin acknowledged that his departure from Miami was not something he anticipated. “Definitely not how I expected things to come to an end,” he wrote, but expressed deep appreciation for the memories he made in the city. “305 will always feel like a second home and have a special place in my heart 4L.”
As he moves on to the next chapter of his career with the Sixers, Martin remains focused and excited about his new opportunity. “I’m grateful and excited for the beginning of my next chapter as a PHILADELPHIA 7️⃣6️⃣er,” he stated in his farewell post, signaling his readiness to contribute to the 76ers’ quest for a title.
Martin joins a Philadelphia team led by Joel Embiid, aiming to make a deep playoff run after falling short in recent years. His versatility on the wing, defensive abilities, and experience will be valuable assets as the 76ers look to build a championship-caliber roster.
As training camp approaches, Martin is set to integrate into the 76ers’ system and bring the same intensity that made him a fan favorite in Miami. “Let’s get to work!” he wrote, showing his eagerness to contribute to his new team’s success.
