How It Happened

The first half of the match featured 14 shots, seven by each team, with neither able to get a goal on the board. UNE had their chances with two corners in the first 45 minutes and the Bucs knocked on the door a few times as the game went to the halftime break scoreless.

In the second half, it took just under 10 minutes for the Buccaneers to break through on Soughou’s first goal of the season in the 55th minute of a pass from the end line inside the six yard box from Calvert to put the Buccaneers up 1-0 with 35 minutes to play. The Nor’Easters had a number of chances down the stretch and were on the brink of tying the game up. UNE, unable to get on the board, saw Maritime add a second goal in the 85th minute on a free kick from Cullivan that dribbled into the 18 yard box and found the foot of Turmel who buried in the back of the next for his first-career goal and gave the Bucs a solid 2-0 advantage. The Buccaneers defense and Winter held strong and the Buccaneer earned their second win of the season on their home field, 2-0, over UNE.
