How It Happened
The Buccaneers held the ball in the Curry zone for much of the first half and took 16 shots in the process, unable to make any of them count. Curry took just five shots in the first and also could not find the back of the net. The teams went to the halftime break knotted at 0-0.
In the second half, the teams played a scoreless first 25 minutes before the Curry offense broke through on a pass in the box from Martins to Watts that he buried into the net to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead with 20 minutes to play. Later in the half, on a defensive lapse from Maritime, Watts was able to break away in the Bucs end and score under Joia to seal the match with his second of the day. Curry took all three points in the non-conference matchup by a final of 2-0.
