WESTFIELD, Mass — The Buccaneers men’s soccer team has been selected to finish eighth in the MASCAC, as voted on by the conference’s head coaches. Though the Buccaneers struggled in 2023 finishing 4-11-2 with an 0-6-1 record in conference, freshman Brody Calvert picked up the MASCAC Rookie of the Year nod and was named to the Conferences second team along with fellow freshman Jack Burke and will look to build on those accolades in 2024 in the form of wins on the field.

Along with Calvert and Burke the Bucs bring back 12 other players for the upcoming season. Now two-time captain Nick Vanti is back with last year’s starting goalkeeper Kaden Winter, and fellow seniors Ryan SoughouQuinn Kelly, and Ethan Somers. Joining the veterans will be 15 freshmen looking to make their mark on the program and the conference.

The Bucs open their season with back-to-back road games at Regis and SUNY Maritime and will open their home slate on September 11th against Nichols. The team opens conference play on the road against head coach Greg Perry’s Alma Mater Westfield State on September 20th and will take on conference foe MCLA as part of Homecoming weekend on September 27th. Maritime’s final home game of the regular season and Senior Day will take place against Bridgewater State on October 18th and they will close out the campaign with three straight road games at Framingham State, UMass Dartmouth, and Worcester State.
