How It Happened

The first quarter finished scoreless between the teams with drives that ended in an interception, a handful of punts, and a turnover on downs.

In the second quarter, WestConn scored early on their first drive of the period. Jones ran the ball in from two yards out and the PAT was converted to give the Wolves a 7-0 lead. WestConn took their touchdown advantage into the halftime break.

The Wolves started the second half with the ball and on their first drive went 77 yards on eight plays for a touchdown. Blaszky ran the ball in from two yards out and WestConn took a 14-0 lead. On Maritime’s ensuing drive, Murphy fumbled on a sack by WestConn and the Wolves picked up the fumble and ran it in from five yards out for the touchdown giving them a three-score, 21-0, advantage.

Maritime couldn’t get much going on offense in the game and that was the same in the fourth quarter. After a Tsika punt with just over 10 minutes left, the Wolves kept the ball on the ground and Allen ran the ball in from 30 yards out. WestConn led 28-0 and they took that lead to the final whistle.
