Arsenal enter deadline day in the January transfer window still looking to do business before it slams shut.
The future of Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel is of major significance today as the Gunners push to get that deal over the line. Tel wants to leave Bavaria this winter and has already rejected a permanent exit to Tottenham Hotspur.
Talk in Germany suggests that Tel would prefer a move to Manchester United but a switch to the Emirates Stadium is not being ruled out just yet. Bayern want to include an obligation to buy in the deal if he is to be loaned out which could play in Arsenal’s favour if United are still strapped for cash.
If the Tel move does not get finalised tomorrow, all the talk will be on whether Arsenal will move for another striker instead. RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak have all been linked over the past month and it remains to be seen if Mikel Arteta and his recruitment staff have a surprise up their sleeves.
