Arsenal have third summer transfer decided as Mikel Arteta masterplan moves closer

Mikel Arteta is said to have decided upon his third summer addition at the Emirates.

It is no secret the Spaniard wants to bring in new players to help add a further competitive level of depth to his squad ahead of next season.

With rumoured exits already being tipped for Jorginho, Raheem Sterling and Thomas Partey, the Gunners could be looking a little light if plans do not go ahead.

According to The Athletic, moves for both Benjamin Sesko and Martin Zubimendi are already in the pipeline and seem to be gathering traction.

Meanwhile, The Mirror reports Sesko ‘remains the top target’ ahead of the summer and that he could be available for £55m. The Daily Mail reported in January that a move for Zubimendi is set to be confirmed at the end of the season.

It has been well documented that Arsenal want to bolster their frontline, especially given the injuries sustained to the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka this season.

But a further twist has emerged, Sky in Germany have now reported that Joshua Kimmich’s representatives have already held talks with the Gunners over a switch in the summer.

The reports seem to suggest Arsenal see the Bayern Munich star as an ideal candidate to replace the ageing Jorginho and he could now make the move to the Premier League.

Kimmich is still yet to decide whether or not he wishes to stay in Germany, but others around Europe are monitoring the talented midfielder, who can also play at full-back too.

The 30-year-old is at a key point in his career and said back in December that he will make a decision over the next few months as to what his future looks like.

“I will not wait until summer,” he told ZDF SportStudio in December. “I will sit down in winter and then try to see the bigger picture. And make the right decision.”

Kimmich has won eight Bundesliga titles as well as the UEFA Champions League with Bayern and is widely considered as one of the best midfield talents of the 2000s.
