On Wednesday night at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, the Minnesota Timberwolves fell 133-95 to the Spurs in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinal, and Anthony Edwards addressed the loss in direct terms. The Spurs built a large first-half lead and controlled the game throughout.

Edwards said, “Shots were not falling at all tonight.” He pointed to the early rhythm, adding, “We started the game too cool.”

He described San Antonio’s defensive approach and pace, saying, “They came out physical, picking up full court, full of energy.” He continued, “We expected that, but we just came out too flat today.”

On the impact of the result in the series, Edwards stated, “Yeah, I mean, they won by 40. I would have a lot of belief.”

Discussing the Spurs’ pressure and traps, he said, “I think we got to watch film on it, find the holes in it.” He added, “We just didn’t make enough shots to get them out of it.” He also noted, “I think we struggled to make shots tonight.”

On Minnesota’s offensive flow, Edwards said, “Yeah. I don’t know. I gotta go watch the film. He’s the head coach. Whatever he said, that’s what we were doing.” The Timberwolves struggled to sustain ball movement against early perimeter pressure.

On Jaden McDaniels’ foul trouble, Edwards said, “You need Jaden on the floor at all times whenever he’s available.” He added, “Him being off the court is going to hurt us every time.” He also said, “When he gets in foul trouble, they get happy because they know we need him on the floor to affect the game.”

Asked about his physical condition after returning from injury, Edwards said, “Not really. I feel good.” On workload, he added, “If it’s required, whatever is required, I’m willing to do it.”

Responding to Chris Finch’s “punked” comment, Edwards said, “Punked is crazy.” He added, “Just look at the film, see what we can gain from it.” He also said, “They were the more desperate team and they wanted it.”

On Minnesota’s response going forward, Edwards said, “We just been together so long. We know each other.” He closed with, “My mama used to tell me a hard head makes a soft ass, and that’s what happened tonight.”

Games 3 and 4 shift to Minneapolis, where the series is tied 1-1 after the Spurs’ dominant home win.
