AC Milan chief Zlatan Ibrahimovic delivers verdict on Joao Felix permanent transfer

AC Milan senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not ruled out the possibility of making Joao Felix’s move to the San Siro permanent. The Portuguese forward, who left Chelsea to join Milan on loan earlier this month, has impressed since making the switch, scoring once in his five appearances.

He has helped Milan win three of those matches, although he couldn’t prevent Sergio Conceicao’s side from crashing out of the Champions League on Tuesday. Milan were beaten 2-1 on aggregate against Eredivisie side Feyenoord following a 1-1 draw in the second leg.

But before that, former Manchester United and Barcelona forward Ibrahimovic spoke about Felix’s future at Milan and whether he could remain at the club beyond the end of his loan spell. Despite there being no obligation for Milan to buy Felix, Ibrahimovic hinted the club could sign him on a permanent deal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ibrahmovic said: “Everything is possible. We want to trust Joao in order to see his best performances, then everything is possible.”

Having seen little return on their £45million investment in the former Atletico Madrid man, may be opening to selling him this summer. However, Chelsea are expected to want a fee close to the sum they paid for him, which could prove to be a problem in any possible move with Milan.

Speaking last week on his Milan future – despite joining the club just a week prior – Felix said during a press conference, as quoted by TMW: “We’ve had two victories.

“I had the opportunity to play at San Siro and score for Milan. I knew about the greatness of this club – Milan are huge. From the outside, you can see it’s a very big club, and when you’re inside, you realise you’re in one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“I already knew the coach, I had played against him, and I followed him. I told him what I expected: to play in my role. He never told me if I would play a lot or a little, but to play in my role. That’s what convinced me to come to Milan. For now, I’m on loan until June. Let’s see how it goes.

“At the moment, I’m really enjoying everything; the club, the people, the facilities. I’ve been welcomed very well. The most important thing is to be where I feel good – and I feel good here. In football, things can always change, but if there’s a possibility to stay at Milan, I would like that.”
