Stefanos Tsitsipas snagged his 400th career win and set a third-round clash with Taylor Fritz in Shanghai.

Stefanos Tsitsipas reached a significant career milestone on Saturday at the Shanghai Masters, defeating Italy’s Luciano Darderi 6-3, 6-4 to become just the ninth active ATP player to record 400 tour-level victories.

The 28-year-old Greek, a former World No. 3 and the highest-ranked Greek player in ATP history, achieved the milestone at the same tournament where he earned his maiden tour-level victory in 2017.

Nine years later, Tsitsipas is in the process of working his way back to peak level. He mproved to 33-21 on the season with his latest triumph. He cracked 17 forehand winners in the 88-minute contest, and saved all three break points he faced agianst the Italian.

The victory also sends Tsitsipas into the third round in Shanghai for the fifth consecutive time. He enjoyed his best run at the tournament in 2019, when he reached the semifinals.

Tsitsipas, who owns 12 ATP singles titles, including three Monte-Carlo Masters crowns and the 2019 ATP Finals title, will face American Taylor Fritz for a place in the round of 16.
