Luke Aiken has reportedly been added to the Western Force’s 2027 Super Rugby Pacific squad after being elevated from the Academy. The 20-year-old scrum-half, formerly part of the Blues Under-20s set-up, now moves into the senior squad picture.
It is a significant step for a player who has already been through several development programmes and has previous involvement with the Force. Aiken joins a scrum-half group that includes Henry Robertson, Nathan Hastie and Agustin Moyano.

Aiken’s promotion puts him in the Force squad for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season. He had previously been selected in the Australia Schools and Under-18s squad before continuing his development through the Queensland Reds Under-18s and Blues Under-20s programmes.
Those experiences led to his move to Western Australia and the Force environment. The promotion is the next stage in that route, taking Aiken from the Academy into the main squad.
For the Force, it adds another option at scrum-half, the position responsible for moving the ball away from the breakdown — the contest after a tackle where players compete for possession. Aiken will be alongside Robertson, Hastie and Moyano in that group.
Previous Force involvement before 2027
Aiken was part of the Force squad for the inaugural Super Rugby AUS campaign in 2025. He also played a couple of Super Rugby Next Gen matches early this year.
That background gives the promotion some continuity. Rather than arriving without prior exposure to the club, Aiken has already been involved in Force squads and competition settings before his reported elevation for 2027.
The Force have continued to shape their squad ahead of the new season, with the club also linked to other recruitment moves in a reported two-year deal for Netani Baleisomosomo.

Force coach Simon Cron said Aiken has continued to make an impression in Western Australia club rugby and described the scrum-half as someone with a long-term future at the club.
“Luke has worked hard in our environment and continues to stand out in WA club rugby.”
Cron added that the Force would keep developing Aiken, and that he adds depth to the club’s half-back options.
The immediate outcome is clear: Aiken is now part of the Force’s 2027 Super Rugby Pacific squad. His pathway has included Australia Schools and Under-18s selection, spells in Reds Under-18s and Blues Under-20s programmes, a 2025 Super Rugby AUS squad place and Super Rugby Next Gen appearances.
The next challenge is competing within the Force scrum-half group. With Robertson, Hastie and Moyano already listed among the club’s options, Aiken’s elevation gives him the chance to keep building in the senior environment while adding depth at a specialist position.
