Olympiacos guard Evan Fournier has spoken about Moustapha Fall’s decision to leave the club for rivals Panathinaikos, revealing how difficult the move was for his longtime friend.

“I had an idea of what was going on,” Fournier said.

The French veteran explained that Fall struggled with the decision, despite ultimately choosing what he believed was best for his family.

“But I want you to know that it was very difficult for him,” Fournier said. “I had spoken to him, and he told me that it took him a week to get used to the idea of the transfer. Even for me, seeing him now in Green seems strange to me.

“And since he spent five years at Olympiacos, it must still seem strange now. He made a choice for his family. Obviously, it is a financial choice. It is not a choice that I can judge.”

Fournier also revealed that Fall had hoped to remain with Olympiacos but understood the circumstances surrounding the team’s frontcourt rotation.

“His goal was also to play, and because we have a lot of bigs… Look, some people can handle such a change, and others can’t. I hope everything goes well for Mous.”
