Men’s Soccer: Bucs Celebrate Senior Night against Bears

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass — On Friday evening, the Buccaneers celebrated the careers of seniors Brendan BouressaQuin LutzRob RutkaiLiam McDonough, and McNeill Somers with a pregame ceremony for Senior Night. In the game, the Bears came out victorious, beating the Bucs 4-1.

For Maritime, Jesus Sanchez scored the lone goal, unassisted. Goalkeeper Nicos Pattihis made one save and allowed the four Bridgewater goals.

The Bears had four different goal scorers, Dan Rickson, Jack O’Toole, Justin Silva, and David Nelson. Ethan Lafontant and Nicolas MAtias each recorded two assists in the Bears win. Goalkeeper William Russell made five saves and allowed one Buccaneer goal.

Bridgewater opened the scoring in the 13th minute on Nelson’s goal and that was the only score of the first half.

In the second 45, the Bears extended their lead on O’Toole’s eventual game winner. In the 57th minute, Sanchez cut the deficit in half for the Bucs on his second goal of the season. Two minutes later, Silva scored for Bridgewater to make it 3-1 and in the 80th minute, Rickson scored the fourth and final goal of the game.

Maritime outshot the Bears 17-13, including 10 shots in the second half while Bridgewater managed four. The Bears had three corner kicks to the Buccaneers two in the match.

The Buccaneers will play Worcester State on the road in their final game of the season on Saturday, October 29th at 3pm in Worcester.
