Buccaneers Fall to Lancers in Season Finale

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass — Men’s soccer hosted Worcester State in the team’s final game of the 2023 season and on senior night for CJ Vincent and Ty Chafa. The Buccaneers couldn’t hold off the Lancers losing 3-0.

Maritime

  • Vincent had three shots in the match, two on target. Chafa added a shot on target as well.
  • Goalkeeper Kaden Winter made two saves and allowed three goals.
  • In total, Maritime took 13 shots, six on target, and took four corners in the match.

Worcester

  • Wilber Garcia, Taylor Gavaletz, and Mal Hawkins scored the goals for Worcester. 
  • Luke-Mark Anu was the only Lancer credited with an assist.
  • Goalkeeper Andy Ramirez made three saves and kept a clean sheet through 81 minutes. Tobian Schneider came in for the final eight-plus minutes and made three saves allowing no goals.
  • In total, Worcester took 17 shots, six on target, and had four corners in the match.

How It Happened

All of the scoring came in the first half in this match. Garcia scored first in the 11th minute. Gavaletz made it 2-0 in the 27th minute and Hawkins added the third goal in the 40th minute to make the score 3-0 Lancers. 

Maritime outshot the Lancers 10-4 in the second half but couldn’t get on the scoreboard. The Lancers took the win, 3-0.
