Golfing icon Lee Westwood has revealed that former Premier League star Jimmy Bullard could become a professional golfer and compete in tours.
Westwood, born in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, became the first British golfer to be ranked world number one in almost over two decades in 2010. He ended the reign of Tiger Woods, arguably the greatest golf player of all time.
The 51-year-old is one of very few golfers who have won tournaments in five continents. A player who was once ranked the greatest in the world, Westwood certainly has an eye for talent, and he believes he has seen something in football icon Bullard.
Speaking ahead of the Icon Series where fans will see 24 football stars play each on the course, Westwood has told Mirror Sport why he picked Bullard to join his squad.
He said: “I have got some good players on my team, I’ve played with quite a few of them. John Terry, he plays a lot and has a low handicap. Jimmy Bullard is in, he is class.

“…I said to Jimmy, I think he is about to turn 50, but if he put his mind to it he could probably turn pro and compete on the Legends Tour for the European seniors. Technically he is really good. He flushes it. I like watching Jimmy hit it, he is a character.”
Bullard made over 300 appearances for various clubs during his footballing career. He spent most his time at Wigan Athletic, but he has also playing for Fulham, Peterborough United and who can forgot his iconic celebration for Hull City.
Following Bullard’s retirement from professional football in 2010, the 46-year-old has become a familiar face on TV. He is most well known for his time on Soccer AM, a comedy football show on Sky Sports the was disbanded in 2023.
