Marcus Rashford to Arsenal transfer stance emerges as Man United statement made

Ex-Manchester United shot-stopper Ben Foster has dismissed any potential of Marcus Rashford joining Arsenal.

The Red Devils academy product left Old Trafford in January, heading to Aston Villa on loan after falling out of the pecking order under United boss Ruben Amorim, with all involved eager for a change.

Rashford’s tenure at Villa Park has been promising so far, with the forward teeing up two assists in four games, which notably included a duo of set-ups in their 2-1 triumph over Chelsea on Saturday. Villa could permanently snap up Rashford for £40million when the season concludes.

However, Foster is quite sure that Arsenal is not in Rashford’s future, given the intense historical rivalry with United back from their days jostling for Premier League supremacy.

“Man Utd would never loan him to Arsenal [in January], never in a million years,” he stated on his podcast, “They’re not going to send him [now].

“Even if Marcus Rashford kicks off massively, Manchester United would never, ever, ever send him to Arsenal, never in a million years. Happily send him to Villa. It’s that next rung down..

“They’re never sending him to Arsenal, I guarantee you that.”

While a permanent switch to the Emirates Stadium might seem improbable, it’s worth noting that both clubs have previously engaged in player exchanges. Back in 2018, Alexis Sanchez made his way from North London to M16 in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but neither player managed to hit their stride at their new homes.

Sanchez only managed to find the back of the net five times for the Red Devils before packing his bags for Inter Milan in 2020. Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan scored nine goals for Arsenal prior to his departure for Roma in 2019.
