Bryan Mbeumo and three other players Arsenal can target that would help save millions

Arsenal appear set for a hectic summer transfer window – with numerous incomings and exits on the cards. The Gunners have endured two relatively quiet trading periods in the last six months, but selling players has allowed their financial position to become much stronger.

As such, Mikel Arteta may look to strengthen several areas of his squad with a marquee arrival expected. That will almost certainly come in attack – with recent injury blows highlighting the severe lack of depth – particularly in the striker’s role.

Spending a sizeable amount on someone like Alexander Isak or Benjamin Sesko could result in the Gunners looking to be a bit more savvy with other purchases, though. That would make potential free agent signings, and stars who out of contract in 2026, much more attractive.

With that being said, football.london has taken a look at four players that could be perfect for Arteta, while also allowing Arsenal to save money;

Joshua Kimmich

Perhaps the biggest name, alongside Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, that may have no club this summer is Joshua Kimmich. The Bayern Munich star has been playing at the elite level for the last decade – and would be a great addition to Arteta’s squad especially with Thomas Partey and Jorginho expected to leave.

Twelve months ago, it appeared a foregone conclusion the Germany international would go elsewhere once his contract expired in 2025, but that may no longer be the case. Having just renewed on Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala, Bayern may now turn full attention on to Kimmich having already held initial discussions.

However, until anything is at an advanced stage or signed, Arsenal have some hope of signing one of the world’s best midfielders without paying a fee.

Bryan Mbeumo

Despite the fact Bukayo Saka is expected to return from injury in April, and the emergence of Ethan Nwaneri, the addition of Bryan Mbeumo could help significantly.

The Brentford forward has been performing at a high level in the Premier League for a number of years – which has seen Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham take notice. With his contract expiring next summer, Brentford may want to ensure he does not leave on a free.

Though his arrival would see three right wingers in the squad, it will likely take time for Saka to reach the previous levels hit while Arteta may not want to overexpose Nwaneri.

Leroy Sane

Former Manchester City star Leroy Sane is another Bayern star that could depart for nothing this summer. Arteta worked with the German at Etihad Stadium and a reunion in north London is entirely possible.

Minimal extension talks have thus far taken place for the 28-year-old, and that could mean an exit is on the cards. An elite-level versatile attacking option coming to the club should be one of many priorities with Sane certainly in that category.

Angel Gomes

As Partey and Jorginho can leave for nothing, it would make sense for one replacement to arrive in a similar deal. Lille’s Angel Gomes sees his contract expire in just a few months with former club Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle United all said to be interested.

The England international has been hampered by injuries this campaign, but he could add some needed in midfield alongside the expected pre-contract arrival of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
