Dean Huijsen has hinted he would be happy to stay at Bournemouth next season despite reported interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Huijsen, 19, has helped the Cherries climb to seventh in the Premier League this season since breaking into their starting lineup in December. Andoni Iraola’s side have lost once across a dozen Premier League matches over the last two-and-a-half months.

Liverpool are the only team to have beaten Bournemouth in the league when their Spanish central defender starts. Huijsen has also helped them at both ends of the pitch, scoring against Manchester United and Spurs last year.

Chelsea are said to appreciate the player and have him high on their list. Arsenal and Tottenham are other clubs credited with an interest in the player, Bayern Munich being another.

It was reported late last month that Huijsen’s contract includes a release clause that becomes active this summer transfer window. Fabrizio Romano has now clarified the price is £50million.

However, two days before Romano first revealed the existence of a release clause, The Guardian published an interview with the player in which he addressed his hopes for the rest of this season. “Hopefully, we can finish as high up the table as possible,” Huijsen said.

“We’re doing well, and I think we can qualify for Europe. We have the quality and the potential. Who wouldn’t want to play in Europe? I think everyone would like that.

“It would go down in the history of the club. It would be great for all of the players, fans and everyone involved.

“I think it is realistic with how we are playing,” Huijsen explained. “We are doing well, and all of the stats show that it’s not just luck, and we deserve to be here.

“We just need to keep on working hard, stay humble and continue proving ourselves.”
