Don’t miss this weekend’s WNBA preseason five-pack

The WNBA preseason is ending just as quickly as it began. There’s lots of preseason action coming up this weekend as the league gets ready for the games to count starting on Friday, May 16.

As has been true throughout the preseason, all games are free to stream on the WNBA League Pass app. With five games on the schedule, there is plenty to watch and look forward to as preseason play concludes.

Friday

Connecticut Sun at New York Liberty (7 p.m. ET)

The defending champion New York Liberty have yet to make their preseason debut. That will change on Friday when they host the Connecticut Sun.

The Sun seem to be in a transition period, trying to establish their culture under new head coach Rachid Meziane. In contrast, Sabrina Ionescu and the Liberty want to go back-to-back. This makes this matchup a tale of two different teams.

Saturday

Indiana Fever at Atlanta Dream (3 p.m. ET)

With Caitlin Clark, Aaliyah Boston and new additions such as Sophie Cunningham, the Indiana Fever are an early contender for the title.

The Atlanta Dream aren’t at that level, but Brittney Griner was impressive in her preseason debut and will give Indiana plenty of trouble in the frontcourt, making this a compelling game.

Sky at Lynx (8 p.m. ET)

The Chicago Sky will aim to go for the preseason sweep against the Minnesota Lynx, trying to beat them for the second time on Saturday.

Angel Reese and company have looked good, and Naphessa Collier and the Lynx weren’t as sharp in the first game. Given that this game is much closer to the start of the season, hopefully, Minnesota plays a bit closer to their regular season rotation.

Toyota Antelopes at Dallas Wings (8 p.m. ET)

No, the Toyota Antelopes are not a new team you somehow missed. They play in the Women’s Japan Basketball League (WJBL) and will participate in a couple of exhibition matches.

The Dallas Wings will host them for a game on Saturday, and with Paige Bueckers expected to play, it’ll be a fun and historic moment for both leagues and the women’s game overall.

Sunday

Golden State Valkyries at Phoenix Mercury (6 p.m. ET)

The Golden State Valkyries, on the other hand, are a new expansion team in the WNBA.

They’ll take on the Phoenix Mercury for their last preseason game. They lost their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Sparks and will now play on the road against the Mercury. Both teams enter the game looking for their first wins of the preseason.
