Chelsea’s journey in the FA Cup came to an end on Saturday night with a defeat at the hands of Brighton.
The Blues lost 2-1 to the Seagulls in the fourth round tie of the competition at the Amex Stadium. Chelsea had opened the scoring with an own goal from Bart Verbruggen, before Georginio Rutter and Kaoru Mitoma found the back of the net for the hosts.
Enzo Maresca’s side will now prepare for a return to Premier League action next week when they face Brighton once again on another visit to the south coast. Chelsea are currently in fourth place in the top flight and four points behind third-placed Nottingham Forest.
