BUZZARDS BAY, Mass — Coming into Friday’s game between the Buccaneers and Corsairs, UMass Dartmouth was averaging 63 points per game and had scored 58 or more points in each game this season. On Friday, the Buccaneers allowed just 34 points in their loss to their South Coast rivals.

Maritime
- Brooks Moss led the offensive attack with 56 yards on six carries in the game.
- Sophomore Isaiah Ricketson ran for 45 yards including a 39-yard scamper.
- Quarterback Evan Pierce ran for 31 yards in the game for the Bucs.
- Defensively, Liam Hines led the way for the Buccaneers in tackles with six.
- Demetri Boozer had himself a night with five tackles, a forced fumble, a pass breakup and a blocked extra point on special teams.
- Mac Kromenhoek recorded the only sack for Maritime to go along with one tackle.
- Jackson Mahoney recorded two tackles for loss and five solo tackles in the loss.
- Sam Huffman had two tackles and a fumble recovery.
- On special teams, Logan Tsika punted three times for 92 yards, an average of 30.7 yards per punt, and pinned the Corsairs inside their 20 yard line once.
UMass Dartmouth
- Quarterback Dante Aviles-Santos completed 23 of 35 passes on the night for 220 yards and four touchdowns.
- Running Back Kevin Brown ran for 76 yards and a touchdown on five carries. His touchdown was from 58 yards out.
- Angel Sanchez caught nine balls for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
- Naseim Harrison caught two passes for 18 yards and a touchdown and Jael Cabrera caught two passes for three yards and a score.
- Defensively, Mike Henricksen had a game-high 10 tackles and two tackles for loss.
- On special teams, Alex Moses converted all three of his PATs and Connor McManus made one of two, the other being blocked by the Bucs.
- McManus also punted twice for 91 yards, an average of 45.5 yards per punt.
How It Happened
Dartmouth received the opening kickoff and went down the field on their first drive, 56 yards on 10 plays, and scored on an Aviles-Santos to Sanchez touchdown from five yards out. Dartmouth led 7-0 with just over 10 minutes left in the first. On the Bucs first possession, they went 58 yards on 14 plays and ate up eight minutes on the clock but in no-man’s land in the Corsairs end ran out of steam and turned the ball over on downs. Dartmouth took the ball back for their second possession that carried into the second quarter. The Corsairs led after one, 7-0.
To start the second, UMD went down field on 11 plays and 83 yards with Aviles-Santos finding Cabrera in the end zone from one yard out. Boozer blocked the PAT from the Corsairs and kept the score at 13-0. After another turnover on downs from the Bucs, the Corsairs drove again, 61 yards on eight plays, and scored on a second TD pass from Aviles-Santos to Sanchez from 16 yards. After the PAT, the Corsairs led 20-0. UMass Dartmouth added one more score before the half on a 58-yard run from Brown to bring the score to 27-0 at the half.
Dartmouth went on to score one time in the second half, an Aviles-Santos pass to Harrison from six yards out on a four down and five play from the Buccaneers six yard line to put them up 34-0. The Buccaneers put together long drives that ate up clock throughout the rest of the contest but could not get on the board. The Corsairs went on to win the game 34-0 over the Buccaneers.

Maritime is off next week with a bye week. On October 19th they will travel to Fitchburg State to take on the Falcons in conference play at 12pm.
