How It Happened

The Buccaneers began the ballgame with the ball and went 73 yards in 10 plays, scoring on a seven yard scamper by Pierce. After Sansone’s PAT, the Bucs led 7-0. Framingham went three-and-out on their first possession of the game and the Buccaneers took over for their second possession at their own 28 yard line. On that drive, the Bucs scored again, this time going 72 yards on eight plays and Pierce finding Keefe in the end zone for a 23-yard touchdown. Maritime led, 14-0 after the first quarter.

In the second, Maritime started with the ball after a Rams three-and-out ended the first quarter. The Bucs had the same fate, calling on Tsika to punt on fourth and 13. On Framingham’s third drive of the game, they went 26 yards on 13 plays and turned the ball over to the Bucs on downs. Maritime proceeded to go three-and-out, ending with a Tsika punt. On the Rams ensuing drive, they went 65 yards on 10 plays and capped it off with their first and oly score of the game. Thompson completed a nine-yard pass to Maia for the touchdown. Kicker Matthew Farley missed his PAT. The Bucs got the ball back and kneeled out the clock and took their 14-6 lead to the halftime break.

Framingham started the second half with the ball and on a first and 10 play, Hines forced a fumble that was recovered by Casey-Moore and the bucs took over at the Framingham 49 yard line. Following the turnover, the Bucs offense drove 49 yards on 11 plays and scored on a one-yard run by Dombroski. Maritime led, 21-6, after the PAT, a lead they took to the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, neither team could find the end zone and the Buccaneers defense finished off the Rams to earn the 21-6 Kelley Cup win on the road.
