The Utah Jazz have exercised the fifth-year team option on head coach Will Hardy. The team made the announcement ahead of Hardy’s third season with the franchise.

This move signifies the Jazz’s continued confidence in Hardy’s leadership and vision for the team’s future. Hardy, 36, became the first head coach hired under team owner Ryan Smith.
In his first two seasons with the Jazz, Hardy guided the team through rebuilding phases, finishing both seasons without playoff appearances. The Jazz finished the 2022–23 season with a 37-45 record, placing fourth in the Northwest Division.
The 2023–24 season saw the Jazz win 31 games and lose 51, marking a slight decline but maintaining their fourth-place finish in the division. Despite the losing records, Hardy’s ability to develop young talent has earned praise within the organization.
Hardy began his NBA coaching career as an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs, where he worked under Gregg Popovich. His experience with a championship organization helped pave the way for his head coaching role in Utah.
Hardy’s leadership has focused on player development and fostering a team culture built around hard work and accountability. His ability to connect with younger players is seen as key to the Jazz’s rebuild.
